There is something incredibly special about a couple who chooses to get married where they actually live — on their own land, surrounded by the people they love most, with nothing performative about any of it. Michelle and Ben's August wedding on their family property in Northfield, Vermont was exactly that kind of day, and it was one of the most genuine celebrations I've ever had the privilege of photographing.

Their ceremony took place in an open field with a mountain view as the backdrop — classic Vermont at its most beautiful. August light in the Green Mountains has a warmth and richness to it that makes everything feel golden, and the wildflower bouquets created by Kennedy's Florals were an absolute showstopper. Colorful, lush, and completely alive — they were the perfect complement to the blues that ran through the details of the day and the natural landscape all around them.

After the ceremony, everyone made their way to the barn — a space that felt as lived-in and loved as the property itself. A BBQ buffet dinner set the tone perfectly: relaxed, generous, and completely unpretentious. The kind of meal that says come as you are, stay as long as you want, and enjoy every minute of it. Which is exactly what everyone did. The dancing that followed was the natural extension of a day built entirely around joy. No script, no rigid timeline, just family and friends celebrating two people who were completely at home in every sense of the word.
